2024 Round up

Thank you to all our partners throughout 2024!

What a year it has been!

2024 has been the busiest year yet for Focal Studios. We’ve strengthened our regional and national partnerships with existing clients such as immersive theatre company Leo & Hyde, advanced our role as part of a fast-growing, local educational ecosystem in partnership with
C Change, and built new partnerships with globally renowned sport and media giants like ZUT Media and Liverpool Football Club. In all cases, our work continues to be based on mutual parity, trust and collaboration.

Liscard Links projections

Most importantly, our work in the local community throughout 2024 has boosted the spirit of local regeneration, social entrepreneurialism and youth development across the Liverpool City Region. Our recent work with young people in Liscard introduced cutting-edge projection mapping and animation technologies to more than 30 youths, who then put their new skills into practice as part of the Liscard Sound and Vision festival.

National Trust at Croome Court:

Rapturous Delight

We are rounding this year off with a project for the National Trust at Croome Court in Gloucestershire. From December 5th until early January a programme of immersive projections will fill the main room with festive light and sounds, offering Croome Court visitors a completely new way to experience the heritage offering of the National Trust, as well as the Christmas spirit.

Remembrance Sunday:

Bombed out Church Liverpool

In November, we continued our longstanding relationship with St Luke’s Bombed Out Church to commemorate Remembrance Day. For two nights, Focal Studios’ animated projections lit up the facade of the church in Liverpool’s city centre. As an immersive technology company, we are proud to create respectful installations that help us to collectively remember those have been lost in such tragic wars.

‘The Mis Informed’:

Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA)

As a central part of the educational ecosystem across the Liverpool City Region, Focal has deepened its ties to local universities such as Liverpool John Moores (LJMU) and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). Our recent collaboration with LIPA and Turntable Theatre saw the installation of a twenty-foot-high pyramid in one of the building’s foyers as part of a final year show produced by LIPA students. We were delighted to fill the pyramid with immersive projections that we hope enhanced the vision set out by such a talented and creative group of young artists.

Our work throughout 2024 has strengthened our capacity to continue developing working relationships with socially conscious cultural and educational institutions across the Liverpool City Region and on at the national and global levels. In 2025, Focal Studios’ dedication to cultural projects that foreground the climate crisis will springboard through a forthcoming collaboration with Sounds of the Ocean, an award-winning global installation that uses epic immersive projections and underwater sounds to raise audiences’ consciousness of the ocean world and our human impacts on it.

Lastly, we would like to say a massive thank you to Rockpoint Leisure for their endless support and efforts in regenerating the New Brighton area where Focal Studios is based. Rockpoint has provided us with the physical space that plays a major role in making our work possible. They continue to promote regeneration, business development and education across New Brighton and the Wirral. Finally, Rockpoint has provided Focal with the new space to begin our next chapter – Focal Point: a new tech hub to drive innovation, education, and regeneration.

Thank you to all our partners and collaborators throughout 2024. See you next year!!!

Love

The Focal Studios team
